Simone Biles
Simone Arianne Biles (/sI’moUn ‘baI@lz14 March 1997, [4]) is an American artistic gymnast. Shannon Miller holds the record for most Olympic medals that an American gymnast, having won seven. She is also the equal ninth in total. With 25 World Championship medals won, Biles is the highest-ranked gymnast in the time of the Gymnastics World Championships. Many consider her to be the most successful gymnast of all-time. Joe Biden presented Biles with the Presidential Medal of Freedom 2022. Biles won gold medals at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Summer Olympics. Biles also earned bronze medals in balance beam as well as floor, all-around, and vault. Biles was part of the United States team known as the "Final Five". But, Biles pulled out of most of the contest due to her issues with "the twisties" that is an intermittent loss of balance awareness in the air. In the US team, she took home the balance beam medal and a silver. The judges were impressed with her partial withdrawal, her mental and physical fitness focus, endurance, as well as her determination to remain in good health. She is also an all-around champion five times over, World all-around champion (2013-2015 and 2018-2019) and five-time World floor exercise champion (2013-2015 2018, 2018-2019) and three-time World champion on balance beam (2014-2015 2019, 2019) and two-time World vault champion (2018-2019) and a seven-time United States national all-around champion (2013-2016 and 2018-2019 until 2021) and a member of the gold-medal winning American teams in the 2014, 2015, 2018 and the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She also is a three-time World silver medalist (2013 and 2014 on vault, and 2018 on uneven bars) and three-time World bronze medalist (2015 on vault 2013, 2013 and 2018 on the balance beam).
Biles is the gymnast who has earned the most World gold medals (19) and World medals (25) in the world. She has also surpassed the record set by Vitaly Scherbo of 23 World medals. Biles won her 24thplace and 25th, both gold, at Stuttgart's 2019 competition. Biles is also the only female gymnast with the highest number of World all-around titles (5). She's the sixth female to be awarded an all-around title both at the World Championships and the Olympics as well as the first gymnast since Lilia Podkopayeva, in 1996, to hold both titles simultaneously. She is the tenth and first American female gymnasts to win the World medal in every event. This feat was accomplished during the 2018 World Championships. Biles was born on 14 March, 1997 in Columbus, Ohio. She is the fourth of her siblings. Shanon Biles, her birth mother, was unable to care for Simone and her other kids, Adria, Ashley, or Tevin. The four kids were all placed into and out of foster care. In the year 2000, Biles' maternal grandfather, Ron Biles, and his second wife, Nellie Cayetano Biles,began temporary care for Shanon's kids in the north Houston suburb of Spring, Texas, after finding out that his grandchildren been placed in foster care. In 2003, the couple had officially adopted Simone and her younger sister Adria. Ron's sister Shanon's aunt Harriet adopted the two oldest kids. Biles, through her adoptive mother, has Belizean citizenship and refers to Belize as her second home. Biles as well as her family members are Catholic.
